PlayScreen BOCCE-BALL \’Rolls Out\’ to the Public
From Wednesday, 1/26, through Saturday, 1/29, the annual MacWorld Conference and Expo was held in San Francisco, CA. For the first time in over 25 years, PlayScreen CCO William Volk, returned to display his latest game title of his illustrious career in the industry. This time he was helping to promotePlayScreen BOCCE-BALL for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch.
The game, conveniently enough, was officially launched in the Apple iTunes Store at around noon PST on Thursday, the first official day of the Expo. By Friday morning the title had been downloaded over 1,000 times, with no advertising efforts outside of the official PlayScreen booth at MacWorld. Little did we know that this was only a small preview of what we would accomplish in the next few days.

To help promote the title, the PlayScreen team assembled a custom booth that displayed 8 iPads, showcasing all of the game titles that are available in the iTunes store. However, this was not the focus of our objective. We wanted to give visitors the chance to play BOCCE-BALL first hand and interact with them about how their experience with the game. We had two additional iPads, that visitors could access, to give the game a try against someone from the PlayScreen staff, or the person that they were there with. Ultimately, we were pleasantly surprised with the feedback and helped confirm our confidence in the product. To help give back to the visitors, and their welcoming remarks, we had a daily drawing giving away prizes such as; iTunes gift cards, BocceNation.com bocce kits, iPod Touch(s), and even an iPad.
It was a great few days at the conference being able to interact with our newfound fans, as well as being able to see all of the other amazing products that are beginning to arise in the industry. Little did we know we would be presented with a final surprise that would cap off a great visit in San Fran. We have learned that PlayScreen BOCCE-BALL is currently the number one app in all of Italy, in addition, it continues to climb the charts in the US. We are hopeful that this trend continues and are fully aware of what needs to be done to assure this.
